A pair of Jimmy Choo’s: every girl’s fantasy. Ever since Carrie Bradshaw uttered the words, “Not my Choo’s!” on Sex and The City, Jimmy Choo has been a household name. Their beautiful design and excellent quality have won over the hearts of many girls—even those who gaze at them through the glass of their computer screens refraining from hitting the ‘add to cart’ button because they know it will break the bank.
We can't all spend $40,000 on shoes like Carrie...
But how did Jimmy Choo become such a huge global brand? Who is Jimmy Choo? In My Shoes: A Memoir by Tamara Mellon tells the true story of how she slaved away for over a decade and grew a successful brand that would become a fashion industry giant.
In My Shoes is a fashionista’s guide to building her own empire… SORT OF…If it were a guide on what NOT to do. Even for those of you who have natural entrepreneurial instincts there are just some things you have to learn the hard way, and Tamara dishes all the juice on how she learned hard lessons. Juicy, juicy lessons!
Your heart will ache and feel enraged for Tamara, but in the end you'll be enlightened. Even though Tamara Mellon is no way involved with Jimmy Choo any longer she is the person responsible for making us all fall in love with a shoe. She loved what she did and she was damn good at it too.
If you're into autobiographies, books about business, and anything fashion related, you’ll enjoy In My Shoes. It’s definitely an easier read than last month’s book rec. Less pages, more fun! Well, at least I think business talk is “fun”, so maybe not your idea of fun lol.
We'll anyways, I hope you enjoy!
Trying to make it through this semester,
